Our recent kitchen remodeling project in Woodland Hills exemplifies our approach to “South of the Blvd” living. The homeowners possessed a beautiful property, but their kitchen was a dark, enclosed remnant of the 1980s that cut them off from their backyard pool and patio. Our goal was to create a design that didn’t just update the cabinets, but fundamentally changed how the family experienced their home, blending high-end interior design with the freedom of outdoor living.

This project solves the “entertaining bottleneck” by using heavy structural engineering to merge the interior kitchen with the outdoor garden, creating a seamless high-traffic hub.

• 16-Foot Panoramic Aperture: Installed a multi-slide door system that stacks into a hidden wall pocket, completely erasing the boundary between the kitchen and patio.
• Steel Moment Frame: To achieve a “floating ceiling” while removing a load-bearing exterior wall, we installed a commercial-grade steel frame to handle seismic requirements and second-story support.
• LADBS Expertise: Navigated complex Woodland Hills zoning and hillside grading codes to ensure a permitted, liability-free build.

Climate-Resilient Materials

• Dekton Countertops: Selected for its extreme resistance to UV rays and thermal shock, perfect for sunlight-heavy Woodland Hills kitchens where hot pans are a constant.
• Marine-Grade Finishes: Applied to walnut and charcoal cabinetry near the door system to prevent warping or fading from humidity and temperature fluctuations.
• Visual Depth: Created an uninterrupted sightline from the front entry to the backyard, tripling the perceived size of the living area.
